Make-It-Over Monday Craft Challenge
12 Sep 2011 at 5:00am
I was hoping to start a new craft challenge this week, but decided not too... You see, I have not had any unique projects shared for the current challenge...

Now that summer is unofficially over, I am hoping participation in Make-It-Over crafts challenges will increase. It seems that the interest in this feature has declined in the last 6 months, give or take... Any time I poll visitors and ask about their interest in continuing this feature, I get positive feedback. Unfortunately, there are weeks that I am the only one who participates!

So, at the moment, I will extend the current challenge for one more week while I determine the future of this feature. Perhaps it is time to retire the Make-it-Over Monday challenges!?!?

As a reminder to everyone, the current craft challenge is all about apples. Make a fun apple craft using any supplies you like, or even make up your own creative apple snack. Need some inspiration? Here are a couple of apple projects that are already posted:

Apple Beaded Safety Pin Design Apple Coloring Page Apple Necklace Craft Apple Print Craft You can share your simple ideas and tips using the comments feature on this blog post, but to get your project possibly featured in the next Make-It-Over Monday blog post, please submit it using this simple form. If you make the project you are submitting, take a picture of it and submit the photo. Some of the submitted ideas will be shared in the next Make-It-Over Monday blog post. Preference will be given to those projects that are submitted with photos. You can look through projects submitted for past challenges if you want some inspiration.

If you have questions or comments about this craft challenge, use the comment feature below. Suggestions regarding this feature? Again, use the comments feature to post your suggestions; and, thanks for playing along. If you want a reminder when Make-It-Over challenges are posted, sign up for the Family Crafts newsletter.

Making Paper Mache Masks
31 Aug 2011 at 5:00am
If you need a specific mask for a school project, your Halloween costume, or if you need a few extra spooky faces to use in your decorating or haunted house why not consider paper mache techniques to create masks? You can make almost any face using this method, and it is a fun family project.

You can use a full face paper mache mask or just a Venetian style (covering the eyes only) mask. Themask shown here was made using paper mache, a couple of ping-pong balls, and some doll hair. What kind of mask would you make?

Have you ever made masks or other projects using paper mache techniques? If so, please consider sharing a picture of it and it could be featured in my Paper Mache Photo Gallery, Costume Photo Gallery, or Haunted House Photo Gallery. You can submit your photo following these simple directions.
